Phoenix Centre For Youth

Phoenix Centre for Youth is a walk-in centre that helps youth in their day-to-day lives. The services offered are confidential, non-judgmental and include: housing support, advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling, parenting support, referral to community and internal resources, health services, financial advocacy, food, clothing, shower and laundry facilities, computer and phone access.

Phoenix Youth & Community Centre

At the invitation of the Mulgrave Park community, Phoenix operates a Youth and Community Centre in Mulgrave Park.  The Centre works collaboratively with the community to develop relevant and meaningful programs for residents. We primarily provide recreation, art, team-building, communication, life skills development, and employment and education support programming.  Through programming at PYCC youth are empowered, encouraged and supported to think big and achieve their goals.

Phoenix Youth & Family Therapy

The Phoenix Youth and Family Therapy team of clinical therapists offers confidential therapy to youth starting at age 11, and their families. The therapists work collaboratively with youth and families to address a range of challenges, including difficult family relationships, grief and loss, peer conflict and bullying, challenges at school, coping with emotions, low self-esteem, histories of abuse, and discrimination and poverty.

The Phoenix Youth Outreach Program provides supports to youth ages 16 – 24 within their family and community context. Areas of support include mentorship, advocacy and accompaniment, housing, employment and education, arts and recreation, health services, and family support.

Phoenix Learning & Employment Centre

Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC) offers employment support to youth ages 16-24. We help young people find employment, develop skills and explore future plans. We connect employers and youth through work placements, employment programming and wage subsidies.

Learn and Explore at Phoenix

Learn and Explore at Phoenix (LEAP) is available to all Phoenix youth and offers a variety of opportunities to try new things, build skills, get involved in the community and benefit therapeutically by having some fun!

LEAP is driven by youth and seeks to be highly inclusive. The diverse activities offered through LEAP are often made possible through collaborations with people and agencies such as the Art Gallery of NS, Halifax Libraries, local musicians and other non-profit groups.

All activity through LEAP, whether delivered within Phoenix’s many walls or out in the community, helps youth Learn & Explore at Phoenix!

Phoenix Supportive Housing Program

The Phoenix Supportive Housing Program provides housing for youth 16 - 24 years old, through two complimentary, but distinct housing services. 

Phoenix Homes for Independence

The Phoenix Homes for Independence Program is a semi-independent living program that helps youth gain the final skills they need to live independently. We offer three homes – each with a live-in support worker – where youth can learn things like:  budgeting, education and employment skills, self-confidence, community engagement, awareness of resources, self advocacy.

Phoenix House

Phoenix House is a 10-bed, long term residence for youth aged 16-24.  Here, youth are empowered to develop life skills by participating in a full time program involving education, employment or volunteer work while working towards a long-term goal of independent living.  Some services include:  housing support, advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling, resource navigation, health services, financial support.

Phoenix Youth Shelter

Phoenix Youth Shelter provides free, safe, emergency accommodations to youth ages 16-24. The Shelter supplies daily essentials (food, clothing, shelter, etc.) around the clock to youth who seek support.  All residents have access to daily programming and are connected with a Key Worker who provides on-going guidance and support to help residents meet their identified goals.
